Jeff Krukin

International Speaker, Writer, and Award-Winning Leader

Not sure where to find a stimulating speaker with a topic beyond the ordinary? Look no further than this solar system! Jeff Krukin has been informing audiences about space for over twenty years. With his NASA experience and space advocacy leadership, and a Master's degree in Studies of the Future, he is uniquely qualified to provide an insightful talk about space and leadership. If nothing else, he can answer Woody Allen's thought-provoking question, "If the Universe is expanding, why is it so hard to find a place to park?"

BACKGROUND
Jeff's direct space involvement began in 1979 with a summer job at NASA Headquarters. July 11th was a particularly exciting day, as Australia called to report the impact of Skylab debris. Jeff answered the phone, and feeling somewhat unqualified to handle this he immediately delegated the task to someone else. Talk about leadership!

Jeff 's first space article was published in 1981, the year he completed his graduate internship at NASA Headquarters and became an IBM Systems Engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center. In the early-1990's he began speaking at conferences about the settlement and development of space. Invited to become a Space Frontier Foundation Advocate in 1990, Jeff spent several years conducting research for various projects. He was Program Director of the Foundation's 1994 Conference and Chairman of the 1995 Conference. Combining his passions for space and writing, in the early 1990's he wrote a monthly column entitled "Think About It," which appeared in the Journal for Space Development and other space newsletters for several years. He has also been published in Space News, the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal, and on websites like Spacedaily.com and Betterhumans.com. Chelsea House will publish his first book essays, specifically written for high school students, in a multi-author collection in Fall 2004.

Jeff became a Foundation Board Member in 1995, and the first Director of Advocates the following year. In 1997 he vacated both Foundation positions to become a ProSpace Board Member and Director of the 1998 March Storm lobbying event. For the latter, Jeff received the 1998 ProSpace Activist of the Year Award. In 1999 he became Vice President and continued as Director of March Storm. Jeff became Chairman in 2002 and served until 2004. Currently, Jeff advises organizations such as the International Association of Space Entrepreneurs and The Space Frontier Foundation, and speaks and writes about commercial space development and The Human-Space ConnectionTM.

SPEAKING OF SPACE
Jeff uses his dynamic style to inform and entertain audiences about the out-of-this world. Television and radio news stations have interviewed him. He has been asked to speak at venues such as a Phi Beta Kappa symposium at the University of North Carolina, the Return to the Moon conference, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the World Future Society, and the International Space University in France. Jeff's topics include:

  • New space industries and jobs being created for today's students.
  • Commercial space vehicles and hotels are being designed for you. Ready for zero-gravity fun?
  • Space physics and spirituality: what is the connection?
  • Resources in space can be brought to Earth. Should space be developed or left untouched?
  • What can today's leaders learn from President Kennedy's lunar landing declaration?
  • NASA hasn't accomplished anything to equal the Apollo Program. What happened after Apollo, and why?
  • Is it legal to own land on the moon, or an entire asteroid? How will this be regulated?
  • How is space essential to your children's prosperous future?
  • Humanity is becoming a spacefaring civilization. What does this mean for global peace... and war?
QUOTES FROM JEFF'S AUDIENCES
Your perspectives on space were most definitely thought provoking and provided a breath of fresh air to the normal debate. - Craig Baden, Vice President, Phi Beta Kappa at the University of North Carolina

We heard many positive comments about your presentation, "Space is a Place, Not a Program: Creating an Orbital Economy" from meeting attendees. Some of those comments were: "Excellent presentation!," "It's good to have presentations from viewpoints outside the mainstream," and "Thought provoking." - Adrienne H. Tooley, Florida Aviation Aerospace Alliance

Our students support your work as an instructor. You managed to deliver a challenging course while engaging your students. - Ronald J. Testa, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Faculty, Barry University

A DEDICATED PROFESSIONAL
Jeff is committed to his clients' success. He will work with meeting planners to create a custom speech or presentation. If necessary, he will arrive the day before your event to ensure a well-prepared and memorable occasion.

So, why hear the same old speeches about the past when the future is far more interesting and fun? Jeff makes space exciting again, and, if you'll pardon the pun, brings it down-to-Earth by showing how space is nothing more than another place for people to live, work, study, and play. Let Jeff bring his enthusiasm and energy to your event.
