MELODIE CHENEVERT
Robonurse
Will the real Melodie Chenevert please stand up?
If you can't quite place the face, it's probably because you know her better as the Fairy Godnurse, ROBONURSE, an eagle, the Be-All-You-Can-Be Bee, or the Walk-On-Water Woman. If you remember siren whistles, bubble stuff, or silly string, you've probably been in one of her workshops.
Ten years after getting her master's in nursing, she got a second master's in journalism. Her first book, STAT:Special Techniques in Assertiveness Training, begins with a parable of an eagle brought up to believe he was a chicken. The first workshop she gave, she came out dressed in a homemade eagle suit and read the parable. That was the defining moment that launched her on a new career as a professional speaker.
Five books and many costumes later, Melodie Chenevert has presented in 49 of the 50 states (Hawaii continues to elude me) as well as in Canada, England, Japan and Australia. She has worked with groups as small as 25 and as large as 8,000. She is extremely flexible doing everything from banquets, to keynotes, to all-day programs.
Melodie Chenevert focus is on communication skills, professional issues, management strategies, career planning, problem solving, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial ventures. She bring nurses news they can use and tools to cope with their rapidly changing personal and professional lives.
A class of senior nursing students had chosen Melodie Chenevert to be their graduation speaker. Their dean soon contacted her to work out the details. She told me my message should be brief but memorable, light but meaningful, uplifting but realistic, challenging but ... she paused, "Do you know what I mean?" she asked. "Yes," I replied, "you want chocolate-covered broccoli." We both burst into laughter.
If you hire Melodie Chenevert to be your speaker, that's what you'll get: solid content but with a light touch. It will be practical and it will be memorable. If you like her books, you will love her workshops and vice versa.
Workshops include:
The Nurses of OZ
Thriving in Turbulent Times
Dealing with the Difficult: People, Situations, and Decisions We Would Rather Avoid
