Growing up in poverty in Syracuse, NY, Darrell Andrews had ample opportunities to utilize the gift he now shares with audiences worldwide. Many times due to the impoverished state of his community, low self esteem and low self determination were commonplace. As a child, Darrell Andrews would find himself attempting to inspire individuals to look beyond their current state to the endless possibilities that life had to offer. Many of his classmates and community friends would come to him for comfort and inspiration, for they knew that he would instantly provide them with a motivational boost and a mindset of "it can be done." It was as natural to him as breathing. Inspiration was part of Darrell Andrews' natural intelligence.
This unique gift was also useful in his desire to be the first person in Darrell Andrews' family to graduate from college. As the son of a high school dropout and a single mother on welfare, he became a three-sport all-star in high school, a leader at his college and the first in his family to graduate from college. This is an amazing feat considering that when he arrived on his college campus, he was not registered to attend and he did not have the money to pay for college. But his passion for more out of life compelled him to pack everything he owned into five garbage bags and hop on the bus to a city where he had never been with a one-way ticket and $42 dollars in his pocket. When reflecting on the experience, Darrell Andrews states, "I didn't know where I was going, but it had to be better than where I was." In 1987 He graduated from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Business Administration.
After graduation Darrell Andrews pursued another first--the first in his family to land a corporate career. He landed a job with fortune 500 health care company, Abbott Laboratories, out of Chicago, Ill. In a short period of time, he became a top producing sales representative and regional field trainer. At Abbott he was known for his contagious motivation, on-going success and ability to bring out the best in new sales representatives.
After a decade of corporate work, Darrell Andrews' decided to spend the remainder of life utilizing his natural intelligence, motivating and inspiring youth and adults to fully maximize their potential. He first founded FamQuest, Inc. which within one year became nationally recognized for helping motivate and inspire youth through its HYPE (Helping Youth Pursue Excellence) Training Program.
Several years later he founded Darrell Andrews Enterprises where he is internationally known as a motivational speaker, trainer and author. He is known for energizing organizations and individuals to achieve their goals and objectives. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences and events worldwide.
