Bob attended Iowa State University where he graduated as the #1 ranked Air Force ROTC cadet and with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He then went on to the University of Tennessee where he finished a Masters Degree and PhD coursework, in Astronautical Engineering.
He went to U.S. Air Force Pilot training and was named a distinguished graduate and his class's "Most Outstanding Second Lieutenant." He finished his F-111 training #1 academically and his class's Top Gun. At the end of a two-year tour in England, he instructed in the Tactical Air Command's Fighter Lead In Course. He departed, with more than 1000 flights and ranked #1 of over 200 instructor pilots.
For four years, Bob was assigned to the Department of Aeronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy, in Colorado Springs. He was named the most outstanding junior officer of over 700 considered, was an Assistant Professor, taught introductory courses to Aeronautics and Stability and Control, and was a flight instructor.
After training in the F-16C in Tampa, Florida, Bob and his family moved to Misawa Air Base in Northern Japan. He left that assignment as a Flight Commander and as a Squadron Top Gun. Bob spent his last two years as an Air Force officer, at Iowa State University, as the Commandant of Cadets, teaching Leadership, Management, and Officership.
After the Air Force, Bob joined a super-regional bank corporation and managed a sales region dealing with over 500 banks. He quickly moved to the Head of Strategic Programs for Investments and Insurance and filled that role until a merger of banks. He quarterbacked the merger team for the Investment and Insurance divisions before becoming the Senior Regional Sales Manager for the Central U.S. In that role he oversaw the sales divisions with emphasis on Private Banking, Trust Services, Brokerage and Investment Management.
Bob moved on to become the CEO of a startup company that focused on online brokerage until it was acquired. Four months later, Bob was moved into the CEO role for the acquiring company. Bob has flown over 50 different aircraft, has managed groups from 10 to over 1,000, has the academic credentials, is a member of Mensa, has the awards associated with high performance, and has often been named the top of the heap whether it be as a fighter pilot or corporate executive.
